Head of HR/HR Director – Construction

Location: Glasgow
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: Circa £50000

Our client, a successful and growing SME, is seeking a strategic HR leader to drive their growth plans and foster a high-performance culture across the UK and Ireland. As the Head of HR, you will have the opportunity to shape the company’s strategic priorities and long-term vision while ensuring compliance with employment laws.

Position Overview

As the Head of HR/HR Director, you will serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and senior leadership team, playing a pivotal role in aligning HR initiatives with business objectives. You will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive HR strategy that drives employee engagement, wellbeing, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) across the organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior leadership on workforce planning and leadership development
  • Oversee day-to-day HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations
  • Drive employee engagement initiatives and promote DEI across the business
  • Coach and support managers to enhance their people management capabilities
  • Manage HR processes and systems, ensuring compliance with employment law across the UK and Ireland
  • Act as a strategic advisor to the CEO and senior leadership, shaping the company’s long-term vision and priorities

Requirements

  • HR qualified (CIPD Level 7 or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in managing day-to-day HR operations, including recruitment, reward, and development
  • Significant experience in a senior HR role, ideally in a fast-paced, high-growth organisation
  • In-depth knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and compliance (UK and Ireland essential)
  • Experience as a standalone HR professional (advantageous)
  • Experience supporting a business through carve-out and M&A (advantageous)
